Radiant’s Luxury Manicure in Manchester
The history of the manicure is said to have originated several thousand years ago in India, where henna was used to dye the nails; in Ancient China people used a combination of beeswax, egg whites, gum Arabic, roses and orchids – a concoction which took several hours to take effect. The Ancient Egyptians used henna and strawberries to dye their nails with red being popular among the higher classes. But manicures really took off in the early 20th century with the invention of the automobile or, more specifically, the special paint used on the cars which inspired make-up artist Michelle Menard to create the very first nail lacquer. The manicure industry has been booming ever since.
